Name: Dark Klauw – Ferrus Cannus

Found in: Swamps, forests
Threat Level: Moderate
Attitude: Aggressive

History: Dark Klauws have been residents of the forests and swamps for thousands of years. Some of the earliest known human records indicate that early man knew of the Dark Klauws and fought with them on a regular basis. As humans advanced, the Dark Klauws remained a source of both food and sport, with many a brave knight being given a quest to slay a particularly ferocious Dark Klauw. They are fiercely territorial and tend to roam through large areas in packs of up to fifty.

Alliances: Occasionally packs of Dark Klauws will meet and either fight or join together if they are both under strength, but this is unusual. Most Dark Klauw packs will meet up with another pack every few years.

Name: Eyedra – Carnifex Utoris

Found in: Ruins, towers, near dimensional portals

History: Very little is known about the Eyedra. It is unknown where they originate from or if they were created by some hideous union of science and magic. What is certain is that very few who gaze upon them live to tell the tale and fewer still can legitimately claim to have fought with a Eyedra and lived. Most often found in or near sites of ancient arcane magic, Eyedras are often the guardians of great secrets of the past. Why they remain to guard their homes remains a mystery. Many speculate that the Eyedras were brought to this realm from another world and were either enslaved or compelled to guard the remnants of a now-vanished civilization. Fortunately, there is an excellent defense against a Eyedra should one ever be encountered: RUN. Eyedras are typically guardians, and will typically only chase intruders for several hundred meters before giving up and returning to their posts.

Alliances: Eyedras are not known to have forged any alliances with any known race, though many scholars speculate that they were once the thralls of a great civilization that has fallen into ruin, leaving the Eyedras behind to guard their secrets after their death.

Attitude: Defensive

History: The true origins of Gargoyles have been lost to antiquity, though most believe them to be the result of arcane magics or sorcerous tinkering. The first recorded sightings of Gargoyles come from the southlands, where they were first seen guarding the ruins of an ancient and long-forgotten castle. Since then, Gargoyles have been spotted in many mountainous regions, though they do inhabit particularly large structures in urban areas. They are fiercely territorial, though typically docile unless attacked or their territory is threatened.

Alliances: The Gargoyles do not maintain any known contact with any race.

History: Throughout recorded human history, Goblins have been present. At various points, the Goblins have traded, fought with and fought against humans. Most humans regard them as pests at best, a menace at worst. Most Goblins are only moderately dangerous, seeking merely to rob or inconvenience humans. From time to time, a warrior-king will emerge among the Goblins and they will mount a military campaign, though this is rare.

Alliances: Goblins are not usually friendly with most of the other races, though they do seem to maintain sporadic contact with mountainous Ork tribes.  ____________________________________________________________________

History: The dark Knights of the Obsidian Blade are a ruthless order of brigands, thieves and murderers who have banded together under the flag of the deranged Lord Sylven Darkhammer. Under Darkhammer’s leadership, the Obsidian Blade has gained a fearsome reputation for raiding the most well-defended fortresses and attacking well-guarded convoys skirting the edge of their territory. Every knight is clad in jet-black armor and carries the fearsome jagged flamberge that is the hallmark of the Obsidian Blade.

Alliances: The Knights of the Obsidian Blade answer to none save their Lord Darkhammer, though they have been known to employ mercenaries and other criminals for their raids when resources are short.

Name: Paar Zylorq – Brutus Gargantus

Found in: Rock quarries, mountains, forests

Attitude: Aggressive

History: Hailing from the western lands, Paar Zylorqs have gained a reputation as brash and brutish monsters. Though moderately intelligent, Paar Zylorqs tend to shy away from machinery and many forms of magic. They are creative enough to utilize simple machinery, but tend not to since their highly aggressive nature usually prohibits their technological growth. Paar Zylorqs can be occasionally hired as mercenaries, but are extremely dangerous and generally not to be trusted.

Alliances: Paar Zylorqs tend to stick to themselves, but have been known to deal with most any race who is willing to hire them, usually in a military capacity. They are foul-tempered and do not work well with groups.

Found in: Caves, underground tunnels, battle sites

History: Skeletons are the result of dark magics and contain the enslaved souls of the departed, trapped in the desiccated remains of their former bodies. Skeletons will always obey the commands of their summoning master until their destruction. They are unable to think creatively, but can understand complex commands. The first reports of Skeletons began several hundred years ago with the founding of the great school of Necromancy.

Alliances: Skeletons are loyal to their master alone.

Found in: Graveyards, battlegrounds, ruins

Attitude: Passive to Aggressive

History: Spectres are the spirits of living beings from any sentient race who has been compelled to remain on the mortal plane after death. The exact cause of why Spectres remain behind is a mystery, but several theories point to excessively violent, lamented or untimely deaths compelling a soul to remain behind. Some Spectres are passive, seeking only to find a way to the afterlife. Unfortunately, most are extremely aggressive and wield magic with frightening potency.

Alliances: Spectres do not typically form alliances, though some have been known to work with their previous race (who they were in life) when it suits their purposes.

Name: Vuu Cabre – Carcarradin Volus

Found in: Coastal regions, forests, deserts

Attitude: Territorial

History: Initially a simple hunter-gatherer race, the Vuu Cabre were stirred to violence after several of their territories were ransacked by Orkish raids some 300 years ago. Since then, the Vuu Cabre have put themselves on a war footing and have developed technologies to defend their territories. They are extremely protective of their homelands, and will fight aggressively to defend them. They occasionally make raids into surrounding lands to increase their territories, but this only happens after a neighbor has provoked them.

Alliances: Provided the race has proved friendly in the past, the various Vuu Cabre tribes have been known to make alliances with nearly any race save the Orks.

Attitude: Mindless

History: Like Skeletons, it is believed that Zombies are what happens when necromancy meets the recently dead. For humans, Zombies represent a worse nightmare; the bodies of friend and foe alike rotting and reanimating. Zombies are typically summoned by a necromancer or wizard, though in certain situations and places, Zombies have been known to reanimate on their own.

Alliances: If reanimated by a person, Zombies are unswervingly loyal to their master. If they reanimate due to environmental factors, Zombies are mindless and will exist to feed on the flesh of the living until they invariably decay.
